Lee Willows, founder of ESG Gaming will be using January’s edition of EAG to update the industry on
the research-led approach being deployed to understand future customer trends in gambling and
gaming.
Previewing the non-profit community interest company’s presence on the EAG Safer Gambling Hub,
he stated: “Over the past twelve months ESG Gaming has engaged with a wide range of stakeholders to help better understand what insight and research is needed. This is already informing our educational products that are launching in 2023 and that have been incorporated in our Enabling
Plan which I will be expanding on at EAG.”
“Our Enabling Plan has a focus on delivering two research papers in collaboration with Bournemouth
University. Both will consider Digital gaming in the context of mental health and healthy gaming.
One research paper will specifically focus on the Web2 to Web3 transition for the sector and the
opportunities, risks, challengers and benefits for the consumer. The second research paper will
consider Influencer-led gambling in gaming on streaming platforms.
“Both will consider the qualitative and quantitative evidence around consumer behaviour, as well as
the environmental and technological factors of gambling, gaming and esports. The research will draw on the lived experience from those who enjoy gambling and gaming without experiencing harm. The research projects will be supervised student-led pieces of work as we want to bring a
fresh perspective to the current literature, while providing purposeful part-time work for academic
students where their work can make a huge difference.”
ESG Gaming will be launching three educational products in 2023, informed by our research. We
want to deliver our products through an incredibly efficient structure of no-more than eight
employees, all of whom will have a non-profit, entrepreneurial mindset and approach. We are keen
to talk to operators at EAG who have yet to make their RET investments to understand if there might
be appetite to work together.”
I would like to thank John White at bacta and the EAG organising team for introducing what is the
first safer gambling hub for the low stake sector. This is excellent leadership and follows the bacta SR
Exchange and Annual Convention and comes at a critical time for our sector. We’d also like to extend
our appreciation of inviting ESG Gaming to be a part of this really important feature.”
