ESG Gaming Planning for 2025

Building Better, not bigger was the theme for ESG Gaming's 2024 Away Day which was kindly hosted by our longstanding partner Mishcon de Reya LLP.  The day allowed the team to reflect on the collective achievements made in 2023/24 and plan our strategy to December 2025.

As part of the day, Maya Szollosy-Jancso and Aman Govani shared their work on establishing the ESG Gaming Research Hub. Over the last twelve months, the team have undertaken six research and literature reviews, covering a range of subjects that are core to the social purpose of ESG Gaming. This work has helped us develop our strategy and allowed us to share insight at various global events in 2024, including Mobile World Congress, London Tech Week, Bett, ESI Net Gen and the Digital Healthcare Show. Maya & Aman continue to support ESG Gaming's research work.

James Fraser-Murison shared the work around delivering our esports and immersive workshops and plans for the autumn of 2024 and into 2025. The team had a purposeful debate on who the audience is for these workshops, and we explored how we can use the workshops to build intergenerational awareness and understanding, particularly between grandparents and parents and their grandchildren and children. James's work with ESG Gaming will see him continuing to lead our educational strategy as we scale the volume and geographical coverage of workshops across England.

Nathan Edmonds showcased THE DOME by ESG Gaming, v2, our multi-award-winning immersive environment we developed with VIVERSE. Our new space utilises VIVERSE's latest polygon streaming technology for even more apparent 3D objects. Creating and delivering immersive experiences is challenging, but what is heartening is that Nath and the wider ESG Gaming team are grasping these challenges, learning, and refining. We have a lot of ambition for this type of work as spatial computing and virtual/mixed reality are gaining momentum. Nath's work with ESG Gaming will allow him to continue to lead our immersive strategy.

Lee Willows, Sam Cooke, and Chris Jones discussed how ESG Gaming can build upon its work in gaming and gambling, specifically in consumer protection and harm minimisation. We also discussed gambling sponsorship within esports and ways in which ESG Gaming might help build understanding between all stakeholders.

Finally, we were pleased to welcome James Dean, and we discussed the social impact and research opportunities that ESG Gaming could pursue working specifically with the gaming ecosystem and how to develop long-lasting and mutually beneficial partnerships.  James will lead our partnership development work with the gaming sector.

Lee also shared the ESG gaming draft annual review and year-end accounts and talked about his priorities, which include working alongside the team to champion and support their hard work, continuing to build and diversify income and leading on Parliamentary engagement.

The minutes from the away day will be published on our website within the Governance section next week.
